Tampa is located on the west coast of Florida in what is known as the Tampa Bay Area. Tampa was purchased by the United States from Spain in 1821; however, the city did not experience booming growth until the 1950s and 1960s. Busch Gardens was developed at this time and continues to attract many visitors to Tampa every year. Tampa also attracts many sports fans due to it being the home of a number of major sports teams and the host of 4 Super Bowl Tournaments since 1984.

Summers are humid with frequent thunderstorms. Tampa is known as the “Lightning Capital of North America.” Tampa is bordered by Old Tampa Bay and Hillsborough Bay. The two join together to form Tampa Bay, which flows into the the Gulf of Mexico. Many cruise lines originate from Tampa’s port, which is the 7th largest in the nation.

Temple Terrace
(813) 506-6420

Temple Terrace is adjacent to Tampa and is located on 6.9 square miles of land. Planned as a golf-course community in the 1920s, it was originally part of a 19,000 acre game preserve owned by Chicago socialite, Bertha Palmer. At the time, it was also home to the largest orange grove in the world.

In 2004, plans began to redevelop the 1960-era downtown Temple Terrace, using many of the original designs from 1920 that were never used, due to The Depression. Temple Terrace is known for its rolling landscape, beautiful trees, and gorgeous views of Hillsborough Bay.
