Pasco County

At the southern tip of the Nature Coast lies Pasco County. Abundant in unspoiled natural features and coupled with an “off the beaten path” outlook, it’s an attractive choice for those looking for a relaxed approach to living and the natural world around them. The varied landscape of Pasco County includes winding rivers, undisturbed wetlands, pine flatwoods, natural springs, a pristine Gulf shoreline and moss-draped oaks.

Since the early 1900s New Port Richey has been marketed as an excellent place to retire. Due to many film stars vacationing there in the early 1920s, New Port Richey almost became home to a Hollywood film studio until the Depression hit the area hard and celebrities packed up and left.

Port Richey is a small town sitting on 2.7 square miles, with a population of 3,000. Because of the size of the town there have been several proposals to disband Port Richey, but they have never been passed. Port Richey holds the claim of being older than New Port Richey due to the establishment of a post office in the home of Aaron Richey in 1884; however, it was not incorporated until 1925, a year after New Port Richey became incorporated.

St. Leo

A 1.9 square mile suburb of Tampa Bay, St. Leo only has a population of approximately 1,300. It is known for Saint Leo University, Holy Name Monastery and Saint Leo Abbey.

San Antonio

Named after St. Anthony of Padua by Edmund Dunne, a devout catholic, San Antonio was a carefully planned Catholic community. When developing the town’s layout, Dunne set aside land specifically for a monastery and convent. With a population of less than 1,000, San Antonio is still a small, heavily Catholic community.

Zephyrhills began in 1886 with the original name of “Abbott.” In 1909 Captain H.B. Jeffries purchased 35,000 acres in the area to start a colony for Civil War Veterans. In 1910, the name was changed to Zephyrhills and a school was built, with a library following the next year. Zephyrhills is now known as the “home of pure water,” and is the headquarters of Zephyrhills Bottled Water Company. As Zephyrhills continues to grow in population, it is dedicated to keeping the neighborly charm of a small town.
